ROMANIAN MUSIC ROCKS...!!

So... Who likes European music? Well.. I'm soo much in. So much in love with the house/dance music by a range of artistes like Akcent... Marius Nedelcu...Edward Maya.. David Deejay... Dony... Inna... Tom Boxer and DJ Project, did a lil background check on them. I was thinking that they were from all over the Europe. Well... Not really. They ALL are from Romania..

They have the catchiest beats of the house/dance music.. and you never get listening to them over and over again. If you want to give it a try, I'll give you a few suggestions. Check out a few of the VDOs in YouTube, and you'll see.. :)

Edward Maya is riding on the top these days with his 'Stereo Love'.. It's awesome. Check out 'This is My Life' as well. Akcent was there for quite a long time and my favs are I Turn Around the World, Lovers Cry, Stay With Me and That's My Name. Check them out. Inna's got a new single out called 'Sun is Up'. But 'Amazing' has an amazingly hot VDO which is.. well.. Go and watch it,lol..

David Deejay and Dony are a wonderful combination.. really. David Deejay has an enormous talent and to match it, Dony has a 'lovely' voice. I know it's a bit odd to called a guy's voice as 'lovely'.. but then again... it's a lovely voice. They both have done a great job with the hits 'Temptation', 'Sexy Thing' and 'So Bizarre'... Another one called 'I Can Feel' with Ella Rose, it's a classic as well... Accidentally listened to another dance track done by him with Indianotech and it was awesome too. For DJ Project, check the hit 'Miracle Love'. Marius Nedelcu was an ex Akcent member. Check out the hit 'Rain'. It's awesome... Tom Boxer got some chart hitters like 'Beautiful Day'...

Well.. You have enough examples now. Go go go and check them in YouTube now.. ;)

LIFE IN OCTOBER...!!

Things look sunny... Very much sunny. October started with the exam heat. The 1st Term exams were in the 1st two weeks of the month. Studying was sort of fun, especially when you have a friend. You never get bored. Anyhow, all 3 papers were not the same. One was so lame. That was the worst paper. The second one was good. The 3rd one was much better. The 3rd week, I had to suffer with an assignment. So.. The only holiday weekend after the exam was fully devoted to THAT!

Office life is kinda OK too. In a new project, with a new team, things are OK. More of my friends left the company. Now I have ended up with another bunch of good friends, eventually. So.. after like.. 7 months, I have claimed my position in the company, happily! More weddings.. more lunch outs.. more birthdays.. less movies.. a lot of music... and the start of the new Term in the Uni. The time table indicates that there are 6 assignments to be done within the next 3 & half months. Keeping ma fingers crossed and hoping the things are gonna be OK.. Cheers!

IT'S HALLOWEEN..!!

I WATCHED ROBIN HOOD....

Oh guys.. Agony! I watched the remake of 'Robin Hood' with Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett in it... It was horrible..! I mean.. really horrible. If you loved Russell in Gladiator, you'll only see that same Gladiator here.. not the Robin Hood in particular. It's a definite NO for sure.. Then I read a few reviews for the movie and i could find stuff like this..

"Boring and joyless, felled by a convoluted, mostly inconsequential plot, as huge chunks of the movie are taken up by negotiations and gamesmanship between characters we don't care about."... "What is missing from this version of Robin Hood is the fun that usually goes with things like robbing the rich and giving the loot to the poor"... "The film is pretty, and there are a few solid moments every hour. But considered as a work of cinema, with paid professionals involved, it's an extremely lackluster story."

Well.. There are good comments too.. But overall.. uh uh.. :-S

THREE WEEKS...

The shopping mall… Three weeks back… I was skimming through the colorful bling blings of the fancy shop. My eyes caught a peacock blue bracelet. Just lovely. I couldn’t resist touching it. So I did. Then I felt it. That soft fragrance... It was exactly 9 years I sensed it last. But I still remembered it. Still holding the bracelet in my hand, without turning back, I closed my eyes to indulge in the soft aquatic fragrance. Then I heard the voice. ‘I know you love blue. But that bracelet is so not for you!’

I turned back.. and I couldn’t help but smile. There he was, standing behind me… grinning.. hands in his trouser pockets.. and wearing a Peacock blue T shirt. I had to look way up to talk to the grinning guy. Too tall, he is! It’s been 9 years I last saw him. The first thought that crossed my mind was.. ‘Why did I ever let you go?’… Instead, I smiles back and asked… ‘Really..?? Then what does?’.. ‘Well… Why don’t you try this one per se?’.. He’s still smiling. Well.. It was an aqua blue bracelet with white seashells attached to it. It fitted perfectly… ‘See..?? There you go! Sea bracelet for a sea girl’.. Not being polite, not waiting to thank the guy standing beside me… I asked.. smiling of cos.. ‘What are you doiiiiing here? Aren’t you suppose to be in Australia chasing the dolphins in the sea?..’… Staring at the ceiling he replied… ‘Well.. I still do. Got here two months back… Just came here for a short vacation. Gotta leave in 3 weeks you know… the dolphins are waiting for me..’… Well.. That can’t be the only reason.. so I asked.. ‘Only the dolphins?’.. His smile was broad… ‘Yeah.. Only the dolphins’.. and showed me his ring finger… which of cos.. did not have a ring in it.. His chance to ask the question.. ‘So.. Who is waiting for you here?’… I too smiled… ‘Only the dolphins..’..

His smile was broader this time.. ‘Well.. Dolphins can wait a bit, can’t they? Will you care to join me for an ice cream.. if you don’t mind?’.. ‘Sure.. of coz…. How did you come here, btw?’.. ‘Well.. I came by car.. and there it is.. annnd I came alone. Need some sweaters to grab before I go, u know...’.. So.. We walked down the road… sat by this small ice cream shop in the street.. and covered 9 whole years within an hour…

9 years back.. I still don’t understand the reason why I did not want him in my life. Many times I tried to figure out a reason why. But I couldn’t. Then he left. I felt guilty at that time, thinking that he left just because of me. He landed in the Kangaroo Country and made his dream true, becoming a Marine Biologist. That’s all I knew. So we talked.. and we talked for three weeks before he left. The good friend I had to let go 9 years ago.. got back, just like that. The day before he left, I asked.. ‘When will you be back?’.. He said.. ‘3 months have to past’.. Then I asked ‘Are u gonna live all ur life there chasing dolphins?.. You’re never gonna come here and live?’.. Then he was quiet for a moment… I said ‘Hello… Are u still there?’ Then he started to speak slowly.. ‘I would be here.. only if there’s a very good reason for me to be here.. a perfect reason…’ He paused. ‘…. Do you think I’ll have a good enough reason to be here… someday?’.. Took me a while to get what he asked.. I just said… ‘Maybe… Yeah.. Maybe’.. Then he asked again.. ‘Are you sure about it?’… ‘Oh.. Yeah.. Maybe there could be a reason for you to be here.. So.. You should stick around to find out’… He was smiling.. ‘Yeah… I will.. and I will be back after 3 months.. You’ll keep in touch, won’t you?’.. ‘Oh yeah.. Sure I will’… Then he said.. ‘Yeah.. You better.. I can’t lose you again.. The last time I lost you, it took 9 years to find you.. You shouldn’t do that, don’t you think..?’.. ‘Yeah.. It’s a rude thing to do.. It won’t happen again’….

So.. it won’t happen again.. You should not let go people just like that… The three weeks passed.. The story.. to be continued…

Now I'm in it. On the other hand, the term end exam is nearing. I just can't understand how fast the days go... Or do they really FLY?? 3 in class tests and 1 assignment and 1 term paper is over. I'll be back to that life in errr... 2 years?? no no... 22 months..!! :-S

THE ONE THING I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND AND WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND ABOUT GUYS..!!

The one thing I never understand about guys will always remain as the one this I never understood about guys! What the hell is that?? Oh well.. It’s simple. This topic came out at the lunch table today and I too added up my opinions to it. When the topic continued, some more people added their opinions to it. Let me tell you what it is… Let’s just say there are two ends to this story. Guy’s side and the Girl’s side. Guy’s side is what I don’t understand. So… Guy’s side : Here it is…

Guy’s side: When a guy meets a girl, whom raised his interest or rather curiosity, they tend to wonder ‘Is she the one?’. The approach: They become friendly with the girl.. But the guy has a fixed set of ‘expectations’ in his mind. They become good friends and slowly… the guy evaluates the girl, no matter how good friends they are. The guy watches the girl. No matter how much the girl cares.. loves… praises and looks after the guy, even if one of his ‘expectations’ are not met with the girl, the guy just thinks ‘Ah.. She’s not exactly my kind’. The guys always look for hard-to-get girls. What guys don’t get is.. Sometimes girls too play hard to get, when they sense somebody is interested on them.

The guy becomes curious about the unknown, mysterious girl more, than the one he knows well.. In most of the cases, what happens is, the mysterious new girl turns him down. Then only it hits his head. The guy gets upset. After a while he does it again. Not only my words, guys. These words actually came out of guys. I asked why they do it. They say ‘That’s how guys are’… Oh jeez! This is what I don’t understand! Why do guys do that? Well.. After so many hardships, the same thing again? I don’t understand this… and I never will.

Girl’s side: Girls do play hard-to-get. But a girl too has a set of ‘expectations’ about how her guy should be. Every girl has that expectation. But when a girl meets a nice-enough guy.. and if she likes him in any way, she does not look for all her ‘expectations’ to be met. Instead, she adjusts. Yes. Girls adjust. Guys don’t. Proves again that girls are from Venus and guys are from Mars.

I was just thinking that.. we have already passed more than one third of our lifetime. At the end of the day, guys.. girls.. we all just die. Do we have to be perfectionists? If we feel that we’re comfortable with someone, and you can be sure that you can live happily with them talking forever without a bore, even if you get old… and if you’re sure that you both will still be comfortable with each other when you face the obstacles in life.. why the perfectionism? That ‘comfort’.. it matters a lot. No… It doesn’t matter a lot. It IS the only matter. Just don’t be too choosy. One reason is, nobody is perfect. The second reason is.. you’re not perfect. So, don’t expect somebody else to be perfect. Whatsoever, in my case, that thing…. the one thing I never understand about guys will always remain as the one this I never understood about guys! Lolz… Complex creatures!

BYE BYE WEEKENDS... I MISS YOU..!!

Today, I woke up at 5 o’clock in the morning. Well.. That will be ‘normal’ for me, 7 days a week for 2 years! I had a tired week at work. My partner in crime in the office is down with viral flu. So I had to go through a hard time, as we started the first round of testing for a brand new Internet Booking Engine. In average case, I would stay late on Friday… watch a movie.. and of coz.. I would listen to some good music. But yesterday, I had to sit by my study table and ‘study’ for an assessment on today. Oh gosh! I’m back with books, pens, pencils, papers and time tables! Back in the University, jeez! The people at home still can’t understand why the hell I am voluntarily ‘sacrificing’ my weekends and ‘putting myself in trouble with studying’ all over again.. Lol…!!

I was sitting in the train at 6.10 A.M, studying the previous week’s lecture notes. Red nosed with a gruesome cold and sleepy eyes.. oh… here I am, studying! I looked out from the window and the sun was just coming out of the hiding. The train passed so many waking-up trees and they all looked so cheerful. On a usual Saturday, I should be still sleeping and dreaming something weird! Well.. I was thinking about the rush I have to be in for the next two years. I will have to sacrifice my weekends. I will have to limit going around the country for a long time. I’ll lose my sleep in big time. Why all this? It’s just that, to gain something greater to our life, we have to sacrifice certain things. I already miss weekends... sniff sniff.. It’s a big deal to me. But then again.. this is the right time for studies. Once an opportunity is gone… it’s gone. So.. I just don’t want to live my life and think someday, ‘I would’ve done this at this time’. But I have to pay some price… In this case… weekends and a few hours of the week to study…

Sooo.. Here I am. Back to pens, pencils and books! Economics, Management, Statistics and Market value Analysis. New stuff! Let’s just do this and see..!! Lol..

WHEN A GIRL....

A certain 'truth' about a girl's world - Found from an e-mail...

When you catch a girl
glancing at you,
she wants you to look
back and smile

When a girl bumps into your arm
while walking with you
she wants
you to hold her hand

When she wants a hug
she will just stand there

When u break a girls heart
she still feels it when
you run into each other 3 years later

When a girl is quiet,
millions of things are running through her
mind

When a girl is not arguing,
she is thinking deeply

When a girl looks at you with eyes full of
questions,
she is wondering how long you will be
around

When a girl answers, "I'm fine," after a
few seconds,
she is not at all fine

When a girl stares at you,
she is wondering why you are playing games

When a girl lays her head on your chest,
she is wishing for you to be hers forever

When a girl says she can't live
without you,
she has made up her mind that you are
her future

When a girl says, "I miss you,"
no one in this world can miss you more
than that

When a girl is mean to you after a break-up
she wants you back, but shes
scared she'll get hurt and knows
you're gone forever

GOOD THINGS AND BAD THINGS...

Life just flows on these days.. Good things and bad things… The baddest and the saddest and the most unbelievable of all… a death of a best friend.. Hmmm… He was the best friend of my brother who passed away two and a half years ago. He left this world all of a sudden with a major blow on my head! One month ago, he was alive. Then he went on Hitch hiking. Some germ has caught his lungs when he was swimming in an algae – filled water. Then he was hospitalized. My brother’s lil bro was always with him when he was in the hospital. I could only pray for him. Never got the chance to see him cz they live in the States. He was on life support… Got better.. Discharged… Got worse… Hospital again.. Life support.. I prayed and prayed and prayed… Then he left the world.. I kinda walk.. eat… sleep like all numb. Trying not to show the world how grieving I am… I put on a smile. He’s gone. Never coming back. Life is unbelievable, isn’t it? Good people die young because heaven needs more and more angels. Hmmmm….

There were several lil bad things as well.. Small things. One was me being surprised over a certain act by one of my good friends… as in a deviation from the how-I-knew-the-friend kinda thing. I sorted it out meeting the friend.. what really happened for the odd behaviour. It’s sorted, but it left me things to think about. I missed most of my good friends on my b’day. Two were abroad and some were sick.

Good things of coz.. my bro passed a certain exam in the University, in which ¾ of the students failed to get through. It’s a big deal. My sis got graduated. End of her 5 year degree. Work is good for me. I’m gonna start the MBA (Fiiinally!). It starts next week! I’m excited about it. But I’ll never have weekends for myself for 2 whole years. Can’t think how busy life will be! Well… Life just goes on and it’s bad sometimes… and it’s good sometimes. I hope I’ll somehow have to find time to read books.. listen to music.. watch movies… surf FB and for all the other things I love to do, after next week. Life will take a new step! Having high hopes about it!

SUNSET AT BASAWAKKULAMA WEWA....

Captured this on the day after the Wesak day, in Anuradhapura.

THANTHIRIMALE...

We visited Thanthirimale Rajamaha Viharaya for this wesak. It was such a beautiful place. The rock surface covers 250 acres of the ground. When the Sri Maha Bodhi was brought from India to Sri Lanka, one night along the way the pot containing the sapling was kept at Thantheremale. It is believed that there was one branch separately grew from the pot, was planted at that village to remember the incidence. Hence, some believe that this may be the first Sri Maha Bhodi plant in Sri Lanka. The Bo Tree is placed on top of large stony layer which may protect the tree up to now. This place was unidentified till the beginning of this 19th century and in 1960s the temple was reestablished by Buddhist Monks. The temple and surrounding area are full of ruins, including two stone statues and several stone ponds.

WESAK DAYS..!!

Wesak days are here again. I hope you guys also had a ball of a time since there was a long weekend to celebrate it. As always, we too did celebrate it in a good way. Lanterns, roaming the streets to see the beauty of wesak and going somewhere sacred. Well.. We made 10 wesak lanterns this time... I captured one of them glowing in the night. Here's how we celebrated wesak!

LOVE ME TENDER....

Come away…
Come away with me..

Dance with me…

In this perfect perfect moonlight…
Hold my hand…

Sway with me slow…

Feel my glittering lips..

Washed away in starlight…

Kiss me slow…

Kiss me tender…

Look me in these..

Starlight star bright eyes…

And when the moon plays hide and seek…

In the silvery cloud lines..

Love me tender…

Hold me tender…

Say you need me..

Say you love me…

MY VERSION OF SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY....

She walks…
And she walks in beauty…

In the enchanted woods..

She walks in beauty..

Streams swiftly flow…

To feel her silky feet…

Wind blows slow…
To touch her glowing grace…

The birds sing no more…

Listen her sing so smooth…

The sun rays hide away…

The light in her eyes, the brighter..

The daffodils dance and sway…

The smell of her skin is tender..

I turn my head, see far far away…

To taste this beautiful wonder…

And when the sunshine turns brighter…

I felt my heart getting lighter..

As I watch her move slow…

When she walks in beauty….

BROWN.. :-)

Brown! You are looking at him. 10 years old, tired, wrinkled, the coat colour fading, yet so faithful..!! This is my neighbor’s dog. He’s a small doggy who grew up to be a mini model of a fox. Well.. I know he’s not so handsome or extraordinary looking. But at this very moment, this is the dog I love the most, out of all the doggies in this world..! He’s sort of a stray. He’s not a caged dog. So he roams around the neighborhood marking his territory, growling at invader dogs and scowling at strangers.

I myself am a huuuge dog fan. Dogs are the most loyal specie of animals out of all. They really mean it when they love you. They really mean it when they come to you lowering their head, wagging the tails and looking at you with pleading eyes. They always think of you as their family. So they protect you, love you, obey you and never betray you. Such wonderful creatures they are! Dogs speak to you if you listen close enough. A cat can never do that for sure!

Brown follows me everywhere when I walk around the neighborhood. If I stay at a place for some time, he just sits and waits for me at the gate. He makes sure to clear the way with a warning to other dogs with a low growl, when he walks with me. When I come home, he jumps up with joy, speaking and his tail wags non-stop like a fan! He knows he gets a share from my plate if he sees me eating. So he never goes away. He stays till I give his share. I only have to call him once, whenever I feel like feeding him or petting him. He always comes running.

Today, I had a good look at him when he visited me. He has aged. In dog years, they only live about 15 years. So.. No sooner, Brown will also be gone. Made me sad to think of it cz he’s such a lovable doggy. I hope you guys also have doggies at your home. Fat ones, tall ones, grumpy ones, playful ones, moody ones, thin ones, short ones, long ones like Weiner doggies and even ‘diggy’ ones who dig and hide the food. No matter the kind, they are all lovable. So love them a lot. Show them that you adore them. You’ll be surprised when you get to know how much they love you when they love you back. Cheers!

THE GROWING HAPPINESS..

Now.. If you happen to read the girl on the move’s blog regularly, you might remember that once she said that she’s gonna plant some good vegetables in her garden. Well… She did it and the outcome is pretty good! Eggplants and chili plants are still growing. Tomatoes didn’t come up good. Pathola flowers have started to bloom. The strawberry plant is going quite well too. Small strawberries come up then and there.

Yet, the best one are the ladies fingers. They have come up really well. See the picture? That's one of them! Everyday there are 3 or 4 to pluck! It’s sooo wonderful to see them growing fast and you get this happy feeling when you pluck them when they’re in full ripe! Well.. The whole ‘growing vegetables’ thing is so cool, sooo.. it will be continued! :D

DEDICATED TO ALL MY SCHOOL BUDDIES....

Just a little piece of my mind, I’m summing up like this… On my way from work today, I bumped into an old friend of mine from school. I met her exactly 10 years after we left school. We talked a great deal of things that happened in our lives for the past 10 years. Guess what? We both have ended up in life pretty much well. The moment I bid her goodbye, I began to wonder about how my friends from school are doing with their lives now… (Them being you all of coz..) :D

See… We all have ended pretty well, haven’t we? Now… as a Devian.. if you turn back and have a look at your life, you will know that I’m telling the truth. Good lives, that is! Surrounded by loving families.. equipped with a good education… good jobs…loving boyfriends… good husbands… adorable kids…. having a wonderful lot of friends… It’s just not photos of some random occasions.. trips or parties that you upload in your FB. It’s again a sign to remind you that you breathe the sweet essence of life in a very beautiful way! See! We LIVE life to the fullest. We ARE happy! We have best of the things in our lives. We really do, don’t we?

You know.. being educated from a leading school in the country is really a huge advantage in many ways. One might think of the competition and the good education only. But Mother Devi is not just another school of that kind. We did get a good education from school; true. But most importantly, it was where we built the good solid foundation of our lives. Devi girls have so many human values in their lives in general, comparatively.

We are selfless.. We care.. We help others in a great deal.. We are always there for each other… This is just a pinch from what we call as human values. We are rich with them.. It’s our school who taught us all these values.. and how to live successful lives with those values. It’s those values that we earned from the past which made us successful today. This is something that we Devi girls have in common. It makes us unique. We can actually turn back and look at our lives and smile, remembering how lucky we are! Can’t we? Yes.. We ARE that rare kind who belong to the breed of ‘happy and successful’.

We love our school so much. This is why we are successful people today. Devi girls… WE ROCK!

THE GIRL ON THE MOVE IS ON THE MOVE AGAIN....

A new chapter in my life started this week as I began my second job in a new place. So far, things are so good. New place and new people. Things seem fine. From the day 1 I started missing my friends in my previous workplace. In BIG time that is. I guess it’s because I need some time to adjust to the new place and the new culture at the new place.

Life begins again.. and I have so much hopes on it too. One being start saving money in a good deal cz I realized how important it is when I was having a good holiday at home. Life will be busy again. But I like being busy. Honestly, there will be so many good things to look forward to. Fingers crossed….

BEING SUPERNATURAL...

It was always about Prison Break. Scofield.. Big big brother Burrows… T-bag… Alex Mahone.. Sarah.. LJ.. I watched it all to the end point.. and it was all brilliant, as the word implies. This is not about Prison Break, guys. Today.. I’m gonna tell you something supernatural. It’s a cool TV show too. The 5th season is currently on air and the show has gotten better throughout the past seasons. Supernatural is not very well known to Sri Lankan viewers, I guess. But it’s really cool. Maybe I say cool cz I love the stuff in it. Supernatural stuff.

The stars of the series are Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackels as Dean Winchester. The Winchester brothers are just like Ghostbusters, but they’re just far more than any Ghostbusters we can think of. They hunt down demons, ghosts, spirits and all the other species that has a supernaturally paranormal origin. The brother call themselves as ‘hunters’ and there’s a community of hunters just like them. A powerful demon visits the Winchester residence when Sam was merely an infant, burns their mom glues to the ceiling, kills her and gets away. That’s where the story starts. Sam and Dean’s dad Jhon starts searching for the demon. The brothers take over the job when they get older…and they hunt down whatever creatures they meet on the search.

Well guys.. I’m so much in to supernatural stuff and mythology. So for me.. it was all very interesting. We only know about spirits, demons and ghosts. That’s only 3 species out of the 100. There are more! Women in white are one category.. Shtrigas.. Wendigos.. Zombies.. Rippers.. All the kinds of evil! Points to ponder: You can make a salt line, so that the spirits can’t cross it. Holy water and salt are acidic to them. You can use iron to stab them. Shotguns work too. To trap a demon, you can trick it into a pentagon so that he can’t get out. There’s an exorcism spell to send the demon right back to hell. You can make a deal with a demon at a cross road in exchange of your soul. The best way to kill a spirit id burn the bones of the dead person. Well.. There are so many stuff guys.

I’m at the 5th season now. Sam’s girlfriend gets killed just the way his mom died and that’s when Sam hits the road to help his dad and Dean. Their dad dies saving Deans life in the 2nd series. Sam gets killed. Dean makes a deal with a demon at the crossroads, trading his soul and brings back Sam to life. They kill the demon who killed their mom. They couldn’t prevent the opening of a door to the hell, so.. more demons come to our world, the strongest of them, called Lilith. A demon called Ruby volunteers to help them to kill Lilith. Dean was dragged to hell by hellhounds when he’s done with his time on earth, according to the deal he made. At the 4th season, angels come down to earth and the story becomes more interesting. Angels drag Dean from hell and gives him life. Lilith’s task is to awake Lucifer, or Satan as we know. There are 66 seals to be broken to do so. Demons and Angels fight side by side. Sam and Den, along with Ruby, help them. Sam has developed psychic powers since he was fed demon blood by the demon who killed their mom, when he was an infant. So… At the end of the 4th season, the 66th seal gets broken. Sam kills Lilith, not knowing that Lilith is the 66th seal. Ruby has tricked him and when Lilith dies, Lucifer rises. Angels fail. Interesting stuff…

There’s a confirmation of a 6th season of Supernatural as well. I would really wait for it! Just watch it and see guys! I hope you’ll like it too. Girls.. You’ll love Dean.. He’s hot and cool in the same time. Good luck with the paranormal!

HOPING FOR THE BEST...

Life these days to me is all about relaxing. I’ve been jobless for more than 2 months now. I really had a good rest and some quality time for myself. For 2-3 weeks, I didn’t look for jobs, cz I wanted to forget the whole ‘job’ thing for a while and take a rest.

Now.. I apply for jobs and I get interviews. I go for them too. The advantage is having some good experience in the field, so I guess I have the chance to get opportunities. Well.. I kept myself occupied for the last 2 months and I guess I had a good and useful holiday. Putting the last two months in bullet points is the easiest way, I guess. I read so many good books.. I watched a good number of movies… It counts finishing up the Prison Break Series and well.. I’m now in the 5th season of Supernatual.. Coming up is the Heroes and Robin Hood series all over again. Lol..

I have a vegetable garden now.. Funky ha? Got the first harvest of ladies fingers last week. Hehe.. That was something I always wanted to do. You have to water them and use fertilizers and look after them well. I go to driving school these days. I never had a driving license all this time. Did some good cooking.. Learned a lot of new things from the web. There was work in the house, so I helped. Never watched TV. Exercised. Ate good organic home made food, no junk food anywhere near.

I went out a lot with my friends. But I DO miss my friends at work a great deal. 3-4 times I dropped in to office to meet my friends. I loved that life. Most of the friends and things my life are still bound to that place. However, the bad part of is that I have no income now. So I’m poor and I’m running out of money.. Hehe.. So.. It really feels like starting the life all over the A/L. You have no money… You have no job and you plan for your studies. Oh.. I forgot to tell about the studies part. Since I’m NOT going to Canada… as per now, I wanted to start studies here. That will again be an MBA. Yesterday I had the aptitude test in the University I’m targeting. There’s a huge competition and the test itself was tough. So.. Crossing my fingers and waiting to see what will happen.

I schooled.. did my degree… did a job for 3 years and now.. I’m taking a break. I have started my life all over again and it really feels good. I always wanted a change in life. So.. Now I’m taking that change. No idea what life holds for the rest of the year; but as I always believe.. I hope for the best.. and continue hoping that life will lead me somewhere good. Cheers guys! Miss you all a lot!

PIN UP DIVAS AND POSTER BOYS.. :D :D

There was a time we were crazy about pop stars.. girl groups and boy bands. We used to go ‘Oooo’ and ‘Ahhh’ whenever we see them, going all jumpy and mushy- gushy! That’s an average teenager. Sticker books, song books, teen books, pin- up posters and teen drama series.. crushes in the tuition class… back when we were teenagers! I used to love that life. Don’t you too?

I found this Edward Cullen the Twilight vampire’s adoring poster last week and didn’t have a heart to throw it away. I pasted in my bedroom door, so that when I wake up in the morning I see the vampire staring at me from his glittering eyes. My mom saw the ‘guy’ in the bedroom door and got confused and asked me ‘who’s the guy in the door?’. I said ‘That’s my Vampire!’. She was worried that the thick cello tape would damage the polished door. Well… The vampire still stays there. You know.. When I was pinning up that poster on the door like a 16 year old, my whole teenage life flashed right in front of me. What a wonderful life it was!

I too used to have pin up stars in my room. There was a smiling Angelina Jolie, Gangster looking Avril Lavigne, Calm and smiley Shania Twain and oh so handsome Tom Cruise right upon my study table. I used to cut and keep the pictures of pop stars and song lyrics from weekend newspapers. Whenever the holiday month comes, I find a binder gum bottle, a ‘platignum’ set and colored pens and start adding up more new songs to my song books. I had a plenty of them, lovely and neat with loads of pictures and neat decorations. I usually used a pop star poster to the cover page and gave the finishing touch to my precious thing with a polythene cover.

I remember the book I made with colorful feathers, pictures and details of birds. I used to collect feathers at every chance I got. Back in school times, me & my best friend used to roam around the teak trees in the basket ball court of the school to find them. Good times!

Crushes came in all kinds, in many variations. Pop stars, rock stars, actors or sport stars, come what may! Tiger Woods, Leo Di Caprio, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise in one side and Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, N’Sync with Pet Shop boys on the other side. Britney Spears came out singing ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ and me and my friends used to sing it with her same carefree attitude.

My Biology class used to be a less-fun place, so me and my friends divided the cute guys in the class among us to keep watch. My counterpart was a good looking, posh, always-smiling Royalist. He always used to come to class with three quarter pants. I had a habit of drawing the people around me in cartoons. Even now I do the same thing. So.. When I was starting to feel bored one day, I drew him with his three quarter pants, showing off his hairy legs and highlighting the very hairy legs! One moment, my friends were giggling and enjoying the picture. When I turned the head again, the piece of paper with my crush’s hairy legs was actually in HIS HANDS! OMG! I so much needed to dig the cement floor and hide under a worm tunnel! Hehe.. There goes my crush! He just smiled over the whole thing, thanks to god!

Life was so wonderful at that time. The time I used to ride my brother’s bicycle with wind in my hair.. the time we used to play badminton and net ball till we get all sweaty and thirsty… Wow.. I loved that life.. Looking back at that time, I sure feel that I have enjoyed that life. I guess you have too. Life is to enjoy.. and life is to be happy. Pin up divas and poster boys added a hint of color to my life back then… and it draws a smile on my face to remember all those lovely teenage moments and adventure I used to have! Don’t you feel the same too?

TEA LEAVES.. DON'T THROW THEM AWAY..!!

Tea..!! Sounds delicious in the middle of a hard day, right? We all love tea. But what do we all do to the used tea leaves? We simply throw them to the waste basket. Well.. Let me tell you something you can do with these used tea leaves.. which can actually ‘lighten up’ your face!
When you go to wash your face in the morning, take some of these used tea leaves. Add a tiny amount of hot water.. and rub the tea leaves in your face and massage the face very well.. Wash your face and dry it with a towel. Now.. look at the mirror? You sure will see a difference. Your face is so very clean and it has lightened up very clearly. This is as good as any cleanser or a clean-up. It simply removed the dead cells in your face, better than a deep cleanser and removes the ‘darkness’ in your face.

It works! Try it and see. It really WILL work and you guys will thank me for sharing this little secret with you guys.

HERE COMES THE TOP 10...

It was another fantastic year for movies, which a lot of massive scale movies lightened up the movie universe. Hope you didn’t miss the best ones too. So.. What are the best 10 of the last year? Check out the list and make sure you didn’t miss any. Here comes the top 10 box office movies of 2009!

Number 10: The Blind Side
Total Gross: $184,387,000
Boasting no explosions, CGI robots or vampires, but propelled by good word-of-mouth, this inspirational drama climbed its way into the number ten spot over the Christmas holiday weekend. I watched this yesterday. It’s about a homeless child who later finds a happy home with a kind family and groomed to be a popular rugby star. It’s a beautiful story.

Number 9: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Total Gross: $196,573,705
Not only did the prehistoric critter crew return for their biggest box office outing yet, the third 'Ice Age' adventure conquered the number 2 spot at the worldwide box office with a massive $883.7 million. This is the best out of the 3 Ice Age movies, as I see. This one is so funny and there wasn’t a single moment I was bored till the moment I started to watch it.

Number 8: Monsters Vs. Aliens
Total Gross: $198,351,526
In a crowded field of animated titles this year, this monstrous adventure towered over the pack, stepping into the top ten with one of the biggest spring opening weekends ever. Well… I didn’t like this one better than Ice Age 3. Yet it’s an OK movie for me..

Number 7: AVATAR
Total Gross: $212,268,000
Arguably one of the most anticipated movies of the decade, director James Cameron's visionary sci-fi epic leaped into the top ten during the final weeks of the year. No need of any explanations. This is an awesome one, right guys?

Number 6: Star Trek
Total Gross: $257,730,019
Live long and prosper! Director J.J. Abrams' bold re-imagining of the classic sci-fi franchise proved popular with both old and new fans alike, easily grossing more than any previous Star Trek movie. This too is an OK movie. But never better than Avatar for me.

Number 5: The Hangover
Total Gross: $277,322,503
Easily the surprise breakout hit of the summer, this tawdry tale of the ultimate Vegas bachelor party gone wrong defied all expectations to become the number one R-rated comedy of all time. I’m sure the GUYS out there didn’t miss it. I loved it too. The best part for me was the guys finding famous Mike Tyson’s pet tiger in their hotel bathroom after a sober, crazy and wild nightout.

Number 4: The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Total Gross: $280,924,000
Hot off the success of 2008's 'Twilight,' the second installment of Stephanie Meyers' supernatural romance saga wolfed down a record-breaking $72,703,754 for the highest opening day earnings of all time. I didn’t watch this one yet cz I’m waiting for a better DVD rip. Hope this is as good as the second book.

Number 3: UP
Total Gross: $293,004,164
The animation wizards at Pixar did it again, soaring to number three, nabbing the studio its second highest grossing movie ever (behind Finding Nemo), and becoming the highest grossing 3D movie of all time. This is so sweet. However, not funnier than the Ice Age movie as well. Hope you loved the multi colored big bird in the movie as well as the ‘ballooned’ home.

Number 2: HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE
Total Gross: $301,959,197
The popular teen wizard returned for his sixth year at Hogwarts to grab second place, but cast a powerful spell on the worldwide box office, taking the top spot with a magical $929.4 million. I don’t think this is the best Harry Potter movie ever made. As the book implies, the movie is ‘darker’ itself. It’s just the flow of the book. Proves again that the books are better than their movie counterparts. Hope you guys will agree with me.

Number 1: TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN
Total Gross: $402,111,870
Autobots battled Decepticons to the top of the box office, not only becoming the top earning movie of the year, but also firmly planting itself at number 9 among the top ten highest domestic grossing films of all time. Well… No need to say again. This is awesome… and the best way to watch it was in widescreen.

Well.. We’ll have a good 2010 with a good line up of movies too. Iron Man 2, Alice in Wonderland, The Twilight Saga : Eclipse, Cats & Dogs part 2 and Harry Potter and the Deathly hallows Part 1 are some of them.

Check them out:

Let’s keep our fingers crossed guys!

COOK AS JULIA CHILD... :D

In my previous post, I told you guys that I’m gonna learn some good cooking as a ‘little’ thing in my New Year resolution plan. I already started it and I’m so happy about it. I was not a girl who was always sticked around the kitchen. I thought I can’t cook, to be honest. But you know… to know whether you can’t exactly do a thing or you can’t do a thing, you should try it. Without trying anything, you can’t exactly say whether you can or can’t do a thing.

I recently discovered that I CAN actually cook. I mean.. I did cook in the past. But I was never sure about my cooking. Up to now, the things I cooked came out well. The last thing I cooked was a Batter Fried Cuttlefish curry. It came out good and everybody liked it. So I thought I’ll continue cooking :D

Julia Child… Any idea who this is? She’s the one woman who taught French cooking to America. I watched a nice movie. It’s called ‘Julie and Julia’. Julia is Julia Child herself and Julie is a girl who lives in modern times who loves Julia Child’s cooking and makes her boring life successful by using Julia Child’s wonderful cook book. Julia Child refers to cooking as an art. Isn’t it fascinating? Well.. For all you girls out there who loves to cook, I’m gonna tell you about this unique cook book. I’ve come across many cook books. But I’ve never seen a cook book like this one. It’s a special one. It’s called ‘Mastering the Art of French Cooking’, published in 1961.

It’s in simple language, as in the language we ‘talk’. All her thoughts are written in the book in this simple language too. She introduces kitchen equipments and tells how to use them in the proper way. She even tells us how to hold the knives properly. She teaches us how to cut vegetables in proper shape and in the proper way. She explains the terms we use in cooking too (i.e.: beat, blend, boil). The measures and temperature conversions are in the book itself.

There’s a section she explains about wines. The book comprises of 10 chapters. Each of these 10 chapters include a large number of delicious recipes. Chapter 1: Soups, Chapter 2: Sauces, Chapter 3: Eggs, Chapter 4: Entrees and Luncheon Dishes, Chapter 5: Fish, Chapter 6: Poultry, Chapter 7: Meat, Chapter 8: Vegetables, Chapter 9: Cold Buffet and Chapter 10: Desserts and Cakes.

My lady friends.. This is a good cook book to have. Julia’s most famous dish is boeuf bourguignon. (It’s made of beef, but I don’t eat beef, btw) It’s pronounced as ‘Boof Boginiyan’. It’s in the book too. She does wonders with butter and sauces. Watch the movie ‘Julie and Julia’ and see for yourself, girls! I’m not sure if you can find the book in the book store. So here’s link to get it from isoHunt as a torrent.

http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/134846069/julia+child+mastering+the+art+of+french+cooking?tab=summary

Well.. Have a look at the book girls, (and guys, if you’re interested too) and tell me how the cooking goes.

AS 2010 STARTS....

Happy New Year my friends… It’s the start of another new year. Hope you guys are also having so many hopes and dreams for the New Year. We all do, don’t we? 2009 ended in a good way to the country, with the end of the war. I think that was the best thing happened to everybody in the country. Now we see everyone visiting Jaffna and Trinco in a rush and we see loads of pics uploaded in FB on that.. lolzz.. Finally, this is a free country.

Did you make a New Year resolution list for 2010 too?? Well.. We don’t exactly write them down. At least all of us mind map our New Year resolutions, don’t we? But hey.. almost all the things in that list are ‘bigger’ things. That’s where we all do a wrong. How? If we have big dreams and we can achieve all of them, it’s superb. What I meant to say is.. most of the time, we forget little things… and at the end of the year, if we look back, those ‘big’ things.. well… not all of them, they still remain. So… at the end of the year, your New Year resolution list comes as a ‘wish list’ rather than a ‘check list’.

What I’m telling is, when you make New Year resolutions, don’t include only big things. Add up little things also. Little things DO matter a lot. Because, someday, the little things you do will add up a huge value to your life.

So. What exactly are these little things? Well.. Let me tell you. For this year… I plan to start an MBA and find a happy job in a small place. Those are ‘big’ things.. Now.. 3 little things I planned out for this year are, One : growing some good vegetables in the garden and look after them cz I always loved it… Two: Learn some good cooking cz I feel that I should. Three: Start my guitar lessons again.. There are a lot more ‘little’ things… Read so many books.. watch good movies.. travel to North.. and the list continues.

There are so many little things you can do too. Change the way you look. Get a new haircut. Get some good clothes. Smile a lot. Meet your friends often. Stop the running of life to watch a good movie.. read a good book. Adore your pet often. Give a surprise gift to your mom… Start exercising… See?? There are a lot more little things you can do.

Life is good with little things, trust me. For me, they matter a lot. Even waking up in the morning and hearing the sound of the wind chime dancing in the wind is a big ‘little thing’ to me. So my dear friends…. Good luck with the New Year. Hope you guys had a good heads up. Don’t worry about the 2012 phenomena though… Lolzz.. (As the Mayan calendar says) You STILL have two more years to enjoy life..
